RE: Camping nights per year

40 accounted for nights this year and I'm sure i'm missing a few..Some in the Hybrid and some in a tent (couldn't take the Hybrid to Alaska). How do you put a price on family memories? Camping Rocks!

RE: New HTT owner

Regarding the Black Tank I would go straight to the GEO method instead of chemicals. Just use 2 cups calgon (water softner) and 1 cup liquid laundry soap to 1 gal. of water. This is so much better than the chemicals and it really makes dumping a lot easier. We have used this method for 4 years and would never go back to the "blue" stuff. I only wish I had known about it sooner. For more info just do a search for the "GEO Method" Enjoy your new camper....

RE: Any Air Conditioning Moisture Issue?

We have never had that particular problem and will run the air all night if needed. I mainly get condensation when it is colder outside than in. I don't crack a window with the air on but, will with the heater. Condensation is always present in the colder weather but, only on the tent not the bedding.

RE: Battery questions for dry camping for 4 days.

Canadian Karebear wrote: Why do folks think that camping is all about sitting in the RV and watching TV? I could do that at home for less!
I don't think enjoying movies while snuggling in the rv in the cold weather is wasted time. The family is still together unlike at home. I find it very interesting how some people are willing to suggest that a tv in the rv means thats all you do or that your wasting money by enjoying a movie together while camping. To each his own is what I say.

RE: Where to camp in Bishop Ca>

I love bishop creek campground just below lake Sabrina. It may actually be called Sabrina. It is on the creek and the fishing is great. My boys 12 & 14 had a blast there. There are many campgrounds on the way up to Sabrina. Your rig should fit and it is first come first serve. No hooks but you can get water from a pump. You'll need a 5 gal container with a spout. Dump at the gas station on the 395 on the south end of town. Mills pond is nice but the sites are quite close together.

RE: Battery questions for dry camping for 4 days.

My family of 4 just finished a week at the beach and I only switched to the 2nd battery on day 5 because I figured why not. any way if you conserve and we do, in warm climates you can go for days. During the winter So Cal style we can last 4 days on 2 batteries using the furnace only to warm the camper up not during the night and watching many movies. We have dry camped for weeks on end moving from campground to campground and charging while towing. We will usually spend up to 4 nights in any given spot. Monitor your families leaving lights and such on and you should be fine.

RE: Any recommendations for Alaska Land and Sea Cruise??

I stayed at the kenai princess lodge this year and it was a very nice. I have heard that the other lodges are nice as well. I haven't cruised with princess but have heard good things. We used norwegian and enjoyed the trip. We car camped for 3 weeks in alaska this summer and Denali was the highlight of our trip. Alaska is just great you can't go wrong.

Are there any happy owners out there? I am looking at these models. Are the 2008 and 09 being included in the frame problems?

RE: clothes storage ideas

We have the cloths hang above and added 2 wire stackable bins from walmart that sit on the bottom of the closet. I roll foldable clothes and store them there. The hanging clothes kinda hit the rolled clothes in the top bin so hubbys clothes go there since I have more mine go in the bottom bin . We have used this system for 7 years and it works great.

We just did the same thing for 22 days and tent camped and used cabins and hotels along the way. We flew into anchorage rented car. Spent 4 nights at savage river in Denali, ( i would spend a few days getting there) stayed at Chena River public use cabin north of Fairbanks, Richardson hwy to a few nights in paxton at the Denali Cabins, camping on the copper river then to valdez lots of camping available nice view, camping along the glen Hwy heading toward Seward. Spent 4 nights in a cabin at millers landing in Seward Spectacular veiw, russian river camping (many bears!!!!) on to Homer 2 nights beluga lodge then camping on the kenai Johnson Lake and discovery campground captain hook SRA final night at the Kenai princess lodge in cooper Landing (very swank) Had a great time. Needed hotels for showers. Great route and many places to check out. We fished for Grayling, trout and sea Dollys. Salmon were plentiful.

RE: Water softener in black tank

The amounts are 1 cup calgon, 1 cup detergent (clothing type) and 1 gal water. Add in place of the blue stuff. If you like using more water you could. We have used this method for years in all types of climate and no odor and easy dumping. I will never go back.

Good luck I have actually requested this from toybox manufactures before and have yet to see one. I figure you would have to customize your own.

RE: The Rear of My Jayco 26L is Sagging!

I would definitely get it looked at by the dealer and documented. That is a real problem. I haven't heard anything regarding frame issues with the hybrids only the Toyboxes. I hope it isn't a sign of things to come we have looked at your model as a possible upgrade. Keep us updated please.

RE: On The Road To Alaska

We crossed the border in 2006 at Eureka into Montana and It was the easiest crossing we have ever had. You must have gotten the agent who had a bad day. We just got back from 3 weeks of tent camping all over alaska and it was spectacular we saw all the major animal except the wolf and saw the mountain multiple days as well. The public use cabins are very nice in Alaska as well. I loved the hand sanitizer most of the state campgrounds nice touch. Missed my rv though..Keep on camping

RE: Hard Slide VS. Tent End Bed Dimensions

my 6'2 husband will not even consider the hard slide out beds. We have laid in them and they are smaller than our hybrid queen end.
